VW is phasing out the Slushbox Automatics, because of their high failure rates and low fuel economy.

Launch control is pretty easy, turn off ESP, Put the transmission in sport mode, press the brake and move the accelerator until the motor is above 3000 RPMs, release the brake and hold on.

only revved to 2200 RPM's? that means the traction control was not off. ESP sets the lower limit when the transmission is not in gear.

DSG is the Dual-Cluch box, DSG = Direct Shift Gearbox

I am saying nothing but DSG gear boxes.

sorry wasnt sure what the slushbox automatic is, my real question was....is there a normal automatic version in the new GTI with paddle shifters? something besides DSG, because this car that i drove lagged between shifts like a normal automatic.

No there isnt. As Woofie stated the only option for automatics in any VW are DSG. If it was brand new it probably wasnt broken in or warmed up yet. How long was your test drive? And what setting were you using? D, S, or manual.

Its suposed to work in either manual or sport. My Moms early 07 does NOT have LC. We've both tried, nothing.
